Matrix on the Gold Coast

This is from the Matrix show held daily at Warner Brothers Movie World.

There are fight scenes, this beautiful lady, and a giant screen shows what is happening in the building.

This is my one month anniversary :-)

Why are they filming?

I was at TimeZone, a place that has heaps of computer games, and there was a camera crew there.

So either they were filming for a commercial, or their parents are wealthy enough to have a film crew capture the moments their children experience.

Hard Rock

The Hard Rock Cafe is an American Icon and has popped up in other parts of the world.

I have eaten here at the one in Surfers Paradise and enjoyed it. They have memorabilia on the walls and quite a few are owned by celebrities.

I have also visited the one in Sydney and when I got there a motor bike club had reserved most of the resturant. There were heaps of bikes outside and it was a little bit unnerving.

The Famous Gold Coast Meter Maids

Beautiful ladies in Gold Bikini's put coins in the parking meters to stop you getting fined.

They sell calendars and other items from the bags over their shoulders.

The Gift Store you've been looking for...

Anyone have a place like this in their local area? There are two of these within 5 minutes walk of each other in Surfers Paradise. Looks like the guy inside is saying to himself "now, where do I start?"

Q1 in the distance

This is taken from where I always park my car when I go to Surfers Paradise. If you try to park along the beach it's a case of being at the right place at the right time to get someone exiting a park there.

You can see the Q1 building (with the long spire) near the middle of the photo. Unless you are close to the building or very far away, for some reason it looks small. Even though Surfers Paradise is a major tourist destination, they still have quite a few old houses and unit blocks (front right) still remaining.

Smile for the cameras

The Gold Coast is most popular with the Japanese tourists and a group of them have asked a local (in the front in white) if they can get their photo with them.

There was about 5-6 cameras clicking away here and some of the ones posing would swap with the picture takers and start clicking away again.

The new face of the Gold Coast

These new buildings are changing the face of the Gold Coast.

Previous buildings have been blocky and basic. More recent buildings have un updated facade.

The new buildings are bringing the Gold Coast up in the leagues of some of the larger tourist destinations.

Easter at Surfers

Many people spend Easter holidays at the Gold Coast and enjoy several days at the beach.

Welcome to Surfers Paradise

This is just to the right of the entrance to the most famous part of Surfers Paradise, the beach.

Playful Dolphins

These are two of Sea Worlds famous dolphins.

This is in a lagoon with the nursing pens to the left, and a small ship to the right.

Sundial

I was trying to get a close up of the bees in this dense grouping of flowers when this sundial appeared before me and I love how it looks with all the flowers around.

This was taken at the Mt. Tamborine botanical gardens.

Simple, rustic and elegant

This was taken at Warner Brothers Movie World which I used for my backdrop on my computers desktop for a while.

Sunbathers

Some parts of the beach get quite crowded. You can always find a spot on the beach if you are just sunbathing, but if you want to swim in the safe area it's not too crowded so you can still enjoy yourself.

Hinze Dame

This is the floodway of the Hinze Dam.

Hinze Dam is located about 15 kilometres southwest from central Nerang and supplies most of the water for Gold Coast City. Hinze Dam, initially completed in 1976, was upgraded in 1989 to a storage capacity of 161,070 million litres and a surface area 972 hectares. Based on average rainfall and weather patterns, it can provide an average 169 million litres of water per day

I was playing around on Google Earth and thought I would give you a sattelite view of the Gold Coast.

Botanical Gardens

This is one of the lakes at the Mt Tamborine Botanical Gardens.

The Botanical Gardens consist of 9 hectares of glorious rainforest, Scerophyll forest, 2 mountain streams and a lake. The unique climate of the mountain together with the rich volcanic soil allows a wide range of plants to be grown here.

Dolphin Cove

One of the best photo opportunities at Sea World is the one posted here. You have to be very quick to catch this one.

The beautiful blue waters and the grace and skill of the dolphins make this a magical place.

Sea World

This is a popular tourist park called Sea World. This is the entrance and they have ski shows, dolphins, polar bears and heaps of rides.

As I had a passport and could come at anytime, there are no lines. If you come when it opens, the lines are very long, but they move quickly.

The Lone Seagull

This took quite a while to get as they kept moving and I wanted one by itself. It's more majestic that way. This is a seagull and you will always see one at a beach and when they find food, they make a lot of loud noises when they fight over it.

I like that the person behind the seagull is also a solitary figure and although they are both on the beach, they are unaware of each other.

I like the way that everything is mis-matched, yet all comes together to make a beautiful photo.

Sunrise

This is a beautiful sunrise over the buildings in the main part of the Gold Coast. The beaches are on the other side of the buildings.

This is one of the Polar Bears at Sea World. They love swimming back and forth infront of the people down in the viewing room.
